Party dress
Sophia has a little obsession with party dresses, and I admit I indulge her completely! I just can’t resist all the sparkles and bows, and I always imagined buying lots of pretty dresses for my daughter. And she loves them! She would happily walk around in sequins each and every day if I let her do it. And sometimes I do. I love how she holds her skirt out as she dances, practising her ballet steps and caught up in an imagination full of tutus and fairies and everything beautiful. I wish she could stay this way for always. I love how untouched childhood can be. And I’ll try to make her dreams come true for as long as I can. After all, a dream is a wish your heart makes. M x
Reflections
Sophia and I were playing in the kitchen this morning. I will miss the background noise she creates around me, little footsteps pitter-pattering everywhere, her constant chatter, and her wanting my attention. She starts kinder this year and already my heart hurts and I miss her. I know she will be perfectly fine and she can’t wait to start. It’s me that is feeling the strings stretch out another few inches and as much as I want to let go, I find myself reaching out and wishing I could reel her in again. We rolled around and tickled and laughed, and I tried to catch a few moments of ‘everyday’ at the same time. Everyday, that becomes the most precious thing of all when it’s not there. I wonder if I will count the hours till lunch time each day, when I’ll pick her up and find out all about the amazing time she’s had? M x

Flying dreams
You and I
Touch the sky
The eagle and the dove.
Nightingales
We keep our sails
Filled with love.
And love it seems
Made flying dreams,
To bring you home to me.

Alex
It was a pleasure to finally meet Priscilla, the winner of the photo shoot I donated to the Autism Advisory & Support Service Auction, back in October last year. Her daughter, Alex, is 3 years old and one of the most adorable little girls I have met. Her excitement was simply gorgeous to watch and I loved sharing in her joy of exploring the gardens. She was full of beans and a delight to shoot. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I loved taking them. M x

Like a butterfly
Your laughter brings me sunshine
Everyday is springtime
And I am only happy when you are by my side
How precious is this love we share
How very precious, sweet and rare
Together we belong like daffodils and butterflies.
Love is like a butterfly.

My childhood hers
My fantastic husband bought me an iphone for Christmas, and since then, I’ve wondered a little how I ever did without one before. One of the reasons for that, I am sure, is my new addiction – Instagram! Like Twitter in photos, it has me hooked, and I’m taking part in January’s photo-a-day challenge (the list can be found here). Today’s photo topic is Childhood. My mind immediately went to an ornament I found whilst helping my Mum move house late last year. I remembered it clearly as soon as I found it tucked away in a box. And what wonderful timing too, I thought, as my Miss Sophia turns 3 this March. I couldn’t think of a lovelier thing to pass on to her, so it may become part of her childhood memories too. Each turning age seems to be an amazing milestone, and 3 is no exception. I think it is my favourite age thus far. I cherish our funny conversations, her awareness of everything, and wanting to do it all herself. And I love it all. M x

Cooking with Sophia
Ever since we bought her a little red kitchen of her own, almost a year ago, Sophia has been busy creating the most amazing variety of dishes for us. Her favourite, a birthday cake, complete with a super cute rendition of “Happy Birthday” and candle-blowing to finish! I couldn’t help but pick up my camera to capture a few of these moments to share with you. M x
