Everything was beautiful at the ballet
My husband and I took Sophia to her first ballet class today. Wearing her first pink leotard, Sophia crept into the theatre with us and watched as the older girls danced before the start of her class. I think I was as nervous as she seemed to be! And as Sophia let go of my hand and took her first ballet steps, I felt my heart go with her. Sophia and my heart, pitter-pattering around the room while I looked on. I hope she loved it. Cianah & Dante
I had the pleasure to visit a beautiful friend of mine, her very doll-like daughter, Cianah, and adorable baby son, Dante. Sophia and I had a great time playing around in their garden, taking photos and enjoying the afternoon sun! Dante was happy to sit for as long as we wanted him to, studying the grass and watching us. Cianah, on the other hand, needed a little chocolate incentive to join the fun in front of the camera! She is one of the sweetest 4 year olds you could hope to meet, with a motherly nature, and happy to share all her toys with Sophia (who basked in her attention). Dante is 8 months old, and although not well during our visit, would never let you know it – smiling and very content. I hope we can visit again soon, and I’m so pleased to be able to share some photos with you all. M x

Beautiful details
Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams. ~ Ashley Smith

Something new
The Easter bunny came today… and not only that, but an early Mother’s Day present from my husband – a new lens for my camera! I am now the (extremely) proud owner of a 35mm lens, and I had a lot of fun playing around with it this afternoon. Sophia was my willing and handy subject, and was even keen to try and take some photos of her own! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and a relaxing long weekend. M x

Change
Today was a very big day for my daughter – we took her cot away and replaced it with a bed. I had trawled through countless websites searching for just the right one. We waited 12 weeks for it to arrive. Her linen was carefully chosen, coordinating cushions bought just this morning. When it all came together, it seemed a little surreal. Could my baby really be sleeping in a bed already? Not so long ago she was tiny in my arms. Almost all her baby things are gone now, but I still can’t help looking at my little girl and seeing the baby she was (will I always feel this way?). And at the very same time, I’m so proud of how she is growing and amazed every day. My husband and I could hardly stop smiling, watching Sophia as she saw her bed for the first time, bouncing and clapping and giggling – completely delighted by it all and full of joy. So under a waxing moon she sleeps tonight, embracing change and hopefully, dreaming sweet dreams… Goodnight sweetheart. M x

Inspiration & learning
Last month I took a four week photography workshop, run by the amazing Sheye Rosemeyer and Fran Mackenzie. Through the workshop I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some wonderful people, three of which I met for dinner last night. We had a fantastic night getting to know each other better, and I hope I can call these talented, inspiration and beautiful ladies my friends. I learned so much during the workshop, which motivated me to start this blog in the first place. The following photos are from a photoshoot I was assigned to do, illustrating the words Quirky, Feminine, Glamor, Glitter. Thank you so much to you all for following my blog and supporting me so far. I can’t wait to learn more!
